Te Mātāwai | Kia ūkaipō anō te reo
Te Mātāwai leads Māori language revitalisation, empowering iwi Māori to restore te reo as a nurturing first language in homes and communities.
We were established by Te Ture mō Te Reo Māori 2016(external link) and utilise research and evaluation, partnership(external link) and investment(external link) to support whānau, hapori and iwi with their language aspirations.
Our long-term vision, “Kia ūkaipō anō te reo”, is illustrated by a waka journey to Hawaiki Mokopuna(external link).
Watch our reo Māori case study videos, Takahia tō Ara and experience the revival as whānau embrace te reo across generations and communities.
