Key information you need to know about receiving investment funds

Te Mātāwai has set clear goals and principles to guide how investment funds are approved. These plans match its overall purpose and the priorities of kāhui investment plans, as well as advice from Pāe Mōtuhake.

If you receive funding from Te Mātāwai, you’ll need to meet some contractual requirements. These include sending regular milestone reports, supporting the vision of Te Mātāwai and its two main goals for kāinga and hapori, managing risks, and helping with communication and promotion.

More information is outlined below about what to expect if funded.

Examples of milestones you may be required to complete are:
- An onsigning invoice to initiate first payment to begin your kaupapa
- A Progress Report outlining how the kaupapa is tracking
- A verbal report - an online hui with one of our facilitators explaining the progress of your kaupapa
- A Final Report telling and showing us about the achievement and language outcomes of your kaupapa.

You may be requested to participate in an evaluation with Te Mātāwai.

You will need to provide high quality images about the kaupapa to Te Mātāwai for their communications needs e.g.: Annual Reporting or social media.

*These reporting requirements are subject to change.

You will be asked to acknowledge Te Mātāwai as a supporter of your kaupapa and as a part of its contribution to the Maihi Māori. You can use this wording 'Supported by Te Mātāwai - Kia ūkaipō anō te reo'. Including the Te Mātāwai branding in line with Te Mātāwai branding guidelines.

We love it when kaupapa promote Te Mātāwai using its brand on promotional material and on social media pre/during/post events link to Te Mātāwai social media profiles where appropriate.

Contact Te Mataihi - Te Mātāwai Communications Team should you need any help or guidance.

Te Mātāuru is responsible for the investment framework of Te Mātāwai, and building the capability and capacity in our community leadership model. These place an emphasis on language revitalisation in homes and communities, as highlighted through our focus areas – Tukuihotanga and Hononga Hapori Reo. Te Mātāuru will continue its work to empower Pae Motuhake, Pou Reo and their Kāhui to support more whānau in their kāinga, hapori and iwi to be confident and capable everyday speakers of te reo Māori. Alongside direct investment, we intend to achieve this through providing accurate and timely information, intensive engagement, building and maintaining quality relationships, proactive decision-making, and deliberate planning, reporting, and monitoring.

During your investment time with Te Mātāwai, the Communications Teams will contact you requesting photos, videos or podcasts of your kaupapa for the annual report, social media posts, investment updates to the Minister of Māori Development, information sharing with other partner agencies etc etc. If you could take high resolutions and quality images through all stages of your kaupapa making it easier when the team contacts you and makes this request. Ideal image size is between 1 MB and 3 MB in a jpeg format.

You can also use these images in your progress and final reporting. Let's get snapping!
