Why do I have to register for the Investment Round?

  • Registration is the first step to access the investment programme. We must verify your details before you can apply. Click to register.
  • If you have registered before you do not need to register again.
  • Please check your details and ensure they are up to date.

What outcomes are Te Mātāwai wanting to achieve?

All Kāhui Investment Plans align with the overarching outcomes:

  • Tukuihotanga - intergenerational transmission
  • Hononga Hapori Reo - connected Māori language communities

If you can explain in your application how your kaupapa align or contribute to the outcomes, it makes it easier for the Pae Motuhake to moderate your tono.

What you need to know about Kāhui Investment Plans

  • Investment plans are set by our eight Kāhui.
  • Read the Investment Plan according to the Kāhui you wish to run your kaupapa.
  • If your audience is iwi-based, Kāhui ā-iwi is your go-to.
  • If your audience is sector-based (hapori, hunga noho taone, mātauranga, pāpāho), familiarise yourself with Te Reo Tukutuku.

Application assessment process

  • Applications are assessed by Pae Motuhake in each Kāhui, who then make recommendations to the Te Mātāwai Board.
  • Final decisions depend on available funds, how well proposals meet criteria and alignment with priorities.
  • Successful applicants will receive a letter of offer and an investment agreement which includes key dates, project activities, milestones etc.

Can I register as an individual or an organisation?

Yes, you can register as an individual.

You can also register as a business, an organisation, a charity, or a trust (charitable, land, marae, iwi, whānau). However, you must be registered with the New Zealand Companies Office or The Charities Services.

Notifying Kaitono

Successful applicants will receive a letter of offer and an agreement via Te Mātāpuna.

The letter of offer will outline who the Te Mātāwai Investment Facilitator is with their contact details.
