Intern - Research

The intern will directly support Te Mātātupu (the data and research team) in executing their annual work plan. The intern is expected to contribute to data collection, data analysis, and other key processes in research and monitoring of te reo Māori related data. This role provides an opportunity for the intern to be exposed to the Māori language revitalisation movement for kāinga, hapori and iwi.

Intern - Kāhui Support

The core function of this role is to contribute to the enablement of the Kāhui Support work programme through the provision of support to the Kaiārahi Poureo/Kaiāwhina (Kāhui Support Lead). 

This role provides an opportunity for the intern to be exposed to the Māori language revitalisation movement amongst kāinga, hapori and iwi.

Intern - Communications and Marketing

The intern will deliver high quality communications through a range of channels to help enhance the reputation of Te Mātāwai and will also play a coordination role, including for events. Another focus will be to plan, create, and test a range of social media content by Te Mātāwai.

Pou Reo (Tainui)

The Pou Reo is a full time equivalent (FTE) position that will work alongside Ngā Paemanu o Tainui and kāinga, hapori and iwi of Te Kāhui ā-rohe o Tainui, supporting to deliver their strategy that helps contribute to the revitalisation of te reo Māori, for Māori, by Māori across the Kāhui ā-rohe o Tainui.

The Pou Reo will reside in the Kāhui ā-rohe o Tainui and be self-driven and passionate about Te Reo me ōnā tikanga particularly that of te Kāhui-ā-rohe o Tainui.

Kaiāwhina (Tainui)

The kaiāwhina will work alongside Ngā Paemanu o Tainui and provide administrative support that helps contribute to the revitalisation of te reo Māori, for Māori, by Māori across the Kāhui o Tainui.


The kaiāwhina will be responsible for providing administrative services to Ngā Paemanu o Tainui and supporting Pae members in their roles of leading the revitalisation of the Māori language at a regional level.
