Te Rautoki ā-Toi evaluation has two key components:

  • Ngā Hua o te Mata Reo, eight wānanga to discuss the early outcomes from programmes, activities and initiatives that we have supported; and
  • Toiuru, a formative evaluation of the Kāhui Investment Model focusing on its first two years of implementation.

Ngā Hua o te Mata Reo is an evaluation of early outcomes from programmes that we have invested in. All eight Kāhui held a wānanga which gave kaitono, Pae Motuhake members and Te Mātāwai kaimahi an opportunity to come together to share their learnings and project outcomes. Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi and Allen + Clarke produced a final report of the overarching project, reports for each kāhui, and case studies. The reports include insights into what worked well, what did not well, and a summary of early signs of success and change.

The Toiuru report presents findings, at kāhui level, from an evaluation of the Kāhui Investment Model we use to help guide our investment decisions. The report focuses on the first two years of implementing the model and how well our investments contribute to achieving the goals and objectives of Pae Motuhake, kāhui and the Maihi Māori strategy. The report also identifies improvements to the model to ensure that we can continue to make a positive impact on the revitalisation of te reo Māori.
